Not far from the birthplace of Padre Pio, at number 28 Vico Storto Valle, stands a space consisting of two rooms once used by the Forgione family as a kitchen and dining area. It was also where Francesco and the other children of Grazio slept when they were young.

Visiting these rooms offers a glimpse into the daily life of the Forgione family and provides an authentic experience of the rural culture of Southern Italy’s Apennine region. From an early age, the future Padre Pio lived his faith deeply, marked by prayer and penance. A powerful symbol of this is the stone placed on the floor of the inner room, which the saint used as a pillow when he chose to sleep on the ground to share in the sufferings of Jesus on the cross.
