Not far from the Church of Sant’Anna, along the alley that once led to the now-destroyed Porta Giardino, stands a small house made up of just two rooms. This house was part of the dowry that Aunt Peppa brought to Uncle Grazio when they got married. It was here that Padre Pio’s parents settled right after their wedding, and they lived there for a year before moving to Vico Storto Valle, shortly after the birth of their first son, Michele.

The first room served as a kitchen, where visitors can now see numerous objects—mostly obsolete—that reflect the rural lifestyle of the late 1800s. The second room was used by the Forgione family as a storage space. Particularly interesting are the large chest for storing wheat, placed against the back wall, and the “pila”—a stone basin for storing oil—embedded in the floor and carved directly into the living rock of the Morgia.
