The Big Chair (Il Seggiolone) is a large natural rock located among the olive groves and country paths surrounding Pietrelcina, along the route to Piana Romana. It gets its name from its curious shape, which resembles a large chair carved out of stone.

According to popular tradition, young Padre Pio often sat here during his walks to pray, meditate, and contemplate nature. Today, it is a symbolic stop for pilgrims who wish to retrace the places of the saint’s childhood and spiritual formation.
